Challenger Regional Park

A big, busy 64-acre sports park in Parker with two playgrounds, a skate park, inline-hockey rinks, and a Cherry Creek Trail connection. Utilitarian, not scenic, and built for league play.
Why it's here
Challenger Regional Park is a 64-acre regional sports park on Lincoln Avenue in Parker, and the honest framing up front is that it is a utilitarian recreation hub, not a scenic nature destination. It is owned and managed by Douglas County, with the Town of Parker leasing the fields for its sports programs, and on a tournament weekend it is busy, programmed, and full.
The amenities are extensive and built for active use: three lighted ball fields plus a multi-purpose field, lighted soccer and football fields, a skate park with banks and ramps, three outdoor inline-hockey rinks, a basketball court, two children's playgrounds, and several large rentable picnic pavilions with shade structures. A roughly three-quarter-mile park trail connects to the broader Cherry Creek Trail and open space corridor, which is the nicest natural feature here. There is an indoor restroom and a concession building that runs April through October.
A couple of honest corrections worth making, because other listings get them wrong. Despite the name, there is no Challenger space-shuttle or 9/11 memorial theme that any official source documents, and there is no fishing pond, splash pad, or amphitheater here, so do not come expecting them. The two playgrounds are standard children's playgrounds, not a billed destination or all-abilities playground.
Use it for what it is: youth and adult sports, a solid skate park and hockey rinks, playgrounds for the kids, and a trail link into the Cherry Creek corridor. On league and tournament days expect crowds and full parking lots; off-peak it is an easy neighborhood stop.
