Douglas County Halloween Events: Every Verified 2026 Date, Weekend by Weekend

Eight confirmed Halloween dates from the first Ghostly Stories walk on October 7 to Last Stop at the Mansion on October 31: a free trick-or-treat trail in Castle Rock, a pumpkin derby and $42 bonfire in Castle Pines, Parker's ticketed Trunk or Treat, costumed paddlers on Chatfield, and a candy run built for homeschoolers.

Douglas County's Halloween is spread across four towns and four weeks. We read every organizer page and kept only what carries a 2026 date; where a price or parking plan is not posted, we say so rather than guess. Pumpkin patches and corn mazes are in our pumpkin patch guide, and the full fall calendar is in the fall festival guide.

The midweek warm-up: Ghostly Stories in Castle Rock

The Castle Rock Museum runs its Ghostly Stories and Tragic Tales of Castle Rock walking tour on weeknights October 1, 7, 8, 14, 21, 22, 28 and 29, 7 to 8 PM, plus 1 PM daytime tours on Saturday, October 17 and Saturday, October 31. Tours begin and end at the museum, 420 Elbert Street, and cover "tales of ghostly and tragic events in Castle Rock's history," including The Rock, The Old Stone Church and the B&B Café.

Free, donations encouraged, registration required: call the museum at 303-814-3164 and dress for the weather. Our take: the one Halloween event on this list built for adults who do not want a haunted house, and the weeknight slots compete with nothing. Book October 29.

October 17: Spooktacular by day, witches on the water

Castle Rock Spooktacular, Saturday, October 17, 1 to 4 PM at Philip S. Miller Park, 1375 W. Plum Creek Parkway. The Town bills it as "fright-free fun for the whole family": a trick-or-treat trail, a Millhouse Manor scavenger hunt, a bubble monster, craft stations (Pumpkin Picasso, sand art, a witch's brew soda station), face painting, music and dancing. Food trucks sell food. It is outdoors, and "family-friendly costumes are encouraged but not required." The Town's page prints neither an admission price nor a parking plan. Our take: the toddler event of the season. The trail is the draw; the crafts are what you do while the trail line moves.

Witch Paddle, the same Saturday morning at the Chatfield State Park Swim Beach, 11500 N. Roxborough Park Road. The event runs 7 AM to 1 PM with the paddle itself 9 to 11. Paddlers bring their own board or kayak; the organizer promises "hundreds of witches, warlocks, paddleboarders, kayakers, and magical misfits." Spectators are free, with food trucks, vendors and costume contests on shore. The registration fee is not posted on the race page. Our take: the most photogenic hour of the month, and you can be back in Castle Rock for Spooktacular by 1.

October 23 and 24: Castle Pines goes two nights, Parker takes the afternoon

Castle Pines Bonfire, BBQ and Brews, Friday, October 23, 6 to 9 PM at Village Square, 7437 Village Square Drive. Tickets are $42 for adults 21 and over and $30 for anyone under 21, covering a BBQ meal, drinks for those 21 and up, s'mores supplies, firepit access and live music. All ages are welcome. Capacity is limited, "all ticket sales are final," and the Chamber adds that "no sales will be available at the gate." Buy in advance through the city's Parks and Recreation portal or do not go.

Castle Pines Fall Festival, Trick-or-Treat Street and Great Pumpkin Race, Saturday, October 24, 10 AM to 2 PM, same address, free. Kids trick-or-treat through the Village Square businesses; the Chamber lists a pumpkin patch, hay rides and a petting zoo, and the city adds a farmer's market. The Great Pumpkin Race is at 1 PM: a $25 race kit from the city turns a pumpkin into a wheeled racer ("bring your pumpkin in its race car form"). Kits must be bought by Thursday, October 22 at 5 PM and picked up by Friday, October 23 at noon. New this year is a chili cook-off, 10 AM to noon, $20 to enter, about two gallons ready by 10, same October 22 deadline. Parking is not posted. Our take: the pumpkin race is the most original thing on this list; mind the Thursday kit deadline.

Downtown Parker Trunk or Treat, Saturday, October 24, in the rear parking lot of Parker Station, 19751 Mainstreet. Sensory hour is 1 to 2 PM for families who need a quieter crowd; general admission is 2 to 5. Up to 60 businesses hand out treats from decorated trunks for up to 4,000 expected families. Free, but every child needs an individual timed-entry ticket and "may only have 1 ticket issued under their name"; adults do not. Tickets opened October 1. Parking is not posted. Our take: Castle Pines ends at 2 and Parker's general hour starts at 2, so both in one day works if you leave Village Square by 1:30. Leave the sensory hour to the families it is for.

October 30 and 31: a Friday candy run and Halloween night at the Mansion

Fangtastic Festival, Friday, October 30, 11 AM to 2 PM at Festival Park, 300 Second Street, free. The Downtown Merchants Association designs it for homeschool families and kids not yet in school: "a booth-to-booth trick-or-treat adventure filled with Halloween music, festive vendor booths, and plenty of candy." If your kids are in school that Friday, this one is not yours.

Last Stop Halloween, Saturday, October 31, 6:30 to 9 PM at the Highlands Ranch Mansion and Historic Park, free. The Mansion's page invites "ghouls and goblins of all ages" and calls it an outdoor-only celebration; the interior stays closed. Our take: the only Halloween-night event on any organizer page we read that is not a haunted house, and the right finish after the neighborhood candy run.

What we could not confirm

Highlands Ranch Community Association's site blocked our request, so no HRCA Halloween event appears here; check hrcaonline.org directly. Lone Tree's city events page and Schweiger Ranch's calendar list no Halloween event for October 2026. No town page we read states official trick-or-treat hours, so we print none.

Our picks

Kids under eight: Spooktacular on the 17th, then the Castle Pines pumpkin race on the 24th. Adults: a weeknight Ghostly Stories walk and the Castle Pines bonfire on the 23rd, bought in advance. One big Saturday: Witch Paddle at 9, Spooktacular at 1. Halloween night: the Mansion at 6:30.

Check /events for additions before the 31st. Organizers can send corrections and additions to hello@discoverdougco.com.
