Festival Park

Downtown Castle Rock's creekside gathering space, with a seasonal splash pad, fire pits, and a steady calendar of markets and concerts. The free heart of downtown on a summer day.
Why it's here
Festival Park is the two-acre downtown park along East Plum Creek in Castle Rock, reopened in 2018 after a roughly seven-million-dollar redevelopment that restored the creek, added pedestrian bridges, and turned it into the town's central gathering space. It sits where the East Plum Creek and Sellars Gulch trails meet, a short walk from the Wilcox Street restaurants, and it is free.
In summer the draw for families is the splash pad, the park's interactive water feature, open daily roughly 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in warm weather. Beyond that there is a large pavilion, two gas fire pits, an open lawn overlooking the creek, free Wi-Fi throughout, a market plaza, and seasonal restrooms. It is built to host, and it does: the Sunday farmers market runs roughly May through October, First Fridays happen in June, July, and August, and the park anchors seasonal events from Spring Up the Creek to the winter Season of the Star programming.
The honest notes are simple. The splash pad and the market are seasonal, so the park is liveliest in the warm months and quieter in winter. It gets genuinely busy during events, when downtown parking tightens, though most downtown parking is free and there are several lots plus street parking nearby. Grilling is gas-only and may be suspended entirely during town fire restrictions.
Treat it as the hub it is built to be: bring the kids for the splash pad on a hot afternoon, time a visit for the Sunday market or a First Friday, and pair it with a meal on Wilcox a block away. It is the free, walkable center of downtown Castle Rock.
