Larkspur Community Park

Larkspur Community Park is the Town of Larkspur's main community park, and while it is a small-town park rather than a regional destination, it is genuinely well equipped for its size. It sits on Spruce Mountain Road, the same corridor as the Spruce Mountain Open Space trailhead, which makes it a natural pairing or a place to let kids burn off energy before or after a hike.

The standout is the playground, built for roughly ages five to twelve, with slides, climbing features, swings including a tire swing, a rock wall, an octagonal monkey bar, and a sit-and-spin. Beyond that there are courts for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball, horseshoe pits, a ball field used for local softball and baseball, three rentable shelters, public restrooms, picnic areas, and walking paths. There is also a Larkspur Veterans Monument on site and a rentable fire ring that requires a town permit.

The honest framing is the right expectation-setter: this is a neighborhood town park, so come for solid everyday amenities, not a marquee attraction. It is a good stop for local families and for travelers passing through Larkspur off I-25, and it sits in the same small town as the Colorado Renaissance Festival, which runs summer weekends at its own dedicated grounds nearby. There is no disc golf here despite occasional listings suggesting otherwise.

Take it as the useful community park it is: a strong playground, a few courts, and rentable shelters for a gathering, with a real hike a short distance up the same road. For a Larkspur family afternoon, it does the job well.
