Castle Rock Closures and Beyond, Fall 2026: Stumpy's Pizza, Spray, Jack in the Box, ClueClock Escape in Castle Pines, and Vehicle Vault Parker's Final Gathering

Every Douglas County closing since mid-August that we could verify from the business itself or a local report, with the dates, the addresses, and what the owners said. Six closed, one winding down, five we could not confirm and will not print as fact.

Closings are the half of the business beat nobody announces. Openings come with ribbon cuttings and press releases; closings come with a papered window, a Google listing that flips to "permanently closed," and a rumor on the neighborhood Facebook group that is right about half the time. So this piece has one rule: a business is listed as closed only if the business said so, a permit or court record says so, or a local outlet reported it with a source. Guesses go at the bottom, labeled as guesses. The openings live in the tracker.

ClueClock Escape and Gameshow, Castle Pines

The newest one. ClueClock, the four-room escape business at 7437 Village Square Dr., Suite A115, announced on Instagram on Friday, October 9, that it had closed after about three years, per DougCo Social's October 10 report, which quotes owners Chris and Joanna Walters: "With heavy hearts, we're sharing that we have closed our doors." They gave no reason beyond being "in a season of transition," and pointed customers to Wreck Room, Conundrum and Mystic for their escape-room fix. The business had added a hosted live game show in June, a stage and four games for groups of 8 to 30, which makes the timing stranger, not clearer. Its website domains return nothing now. Castle Pines has one less thing to do indoors.

Spray, Castle Rock

The women-owned spray tan, piercing and permanent-jewelry studio at 3855 Ambrosia St., Suite 103, closed September 15 after three years. The owner's Instagram announcement, as quoted by DougCo Social: "I've made the personal decision to close our studio doors on September 15th to focus on my family." Membership and package holders were told to check the studio's social channels. That is the whole story, and it is a cleaner one than most.

Stumpy's Pizza, Castle Rock

The one people still ask about. Stumpy's served its last pizza at 138 S. Wilcox St. on Wednesday, August 26, after 25-plus years, because Rivers Church bought the building, per DougCo Social's account, which says the owners intend to reopen somewhere else. As of this week the restaurant's own website still lists the Wilcox hours it stopped keeping in August and no new address. We carry it on the tracker's waiting list and will move it to the openings column the day there is a lease.

Rock Bottom, Highlands Ranch

Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery closed its Highlands Ranch brewpub at 1505 Park Central Dr. in August, along with Centennial, leaving Loveland as the chain's only Colorado location, per DougCo Social's August 25 report, which also says the landlord is suing. The building sits at the Park Meadows edge of the county and will not stay empty long; what replaces it is the actual story, and we do not have it yet.

Jack in the Box, Castle Rock

The Jack in the Box at 27 E. Wolfensberger Rd. closed in August with no announcement, part of the chain's plan to shut 150 to 200 underperforming stores nationwide, per DougCo Social's August 22 report. Windows papered, drive-through empty, signs still up when we last looked. Nothing has been filed for the building that we have read.

Trifecta Sports Bar and Grill, Castle Rock

Trifecta at 810 New Memphis Ct. was "closed on the listing sites, not confirmed by the business" in our September tracker. It is confirmed now the simplest way a closing gets confirmed: somebody else opened in the building. Border Burger Sports Bar opened there September 30, per DougCo Social, and its own website lists the New Memphis Court address and hours. The exterior still read Trifecta when DougCo Social visited; the new signs are coming.

Vehicle Vault, Parker: not closed, but

The car museum at 18301 Lincoln Meadows Pkwy. put a banner on its homepage reading "One Final Gathering, Oct. 10th, 9am to 2pm," the last of its Espresso and Exhaust mornings, which DougCo Social reports the museum described as the end of that tradition. The family said in September 2025 it was stepping back for health reasons and listed the 4.09-acre building, per KDVR's report at the time; DougCo Social puts the asking price at $9.7 million. The museum's hours page is unchanged (Wednesday to Saturday 10 to 5, Sunday noon to 5) and no closing date has been published. If you have been meaning to go, this is the window. We will print the closing date when the museum does.

The ones we could not verify

DougCo Social's running list carries five more entries since August that we could not confirm from the business or a report with a source: Sawara Sushi at 312 Metzler Dr. (the list says a final day of August 15), Laughing Lion Herbs' retail store at the Outlets (the list says online only now), Learning Express Toys at 9579 S. University Blvd., Toastique in Highlands Ranch (a Google listing, nothing more, same as in September), and Bodega Beer on Hess Road in Parker, where the only things we found were a story about a rebrand from Fiction Beer and a bare industry-directory entry saying "out of business." Some or all of these are probably closed. "Probably" is not a standard we publish at. If you own one of them, or know, hello@discoverdougco.com.

Closings get their own piece when four or more are verified; otherwise they ride in the tracker.
