Theatre of Dreams

The 200-seat magic-and-illusion theater in Castle Rock, run by the Anthony brothers. Friday and Saturday-night shows. Real working magicians, real close-up work, and a back-bar lounge before and after. Strange, specific, and unlike anything else in DougCo.
Why it's here
Theatre of Dreams at 735 Park Street in Castle Rock is a 200-seat magic-and-illusion theater run by the Anthony brothers, professional magicians who have built and performed at the venue for over a decade. The show format is Friday and Saturday evenings (7:30pm and 9:30pm slots) with rotating programs that mix close-up table magic, stage illusion, mentalism, and audience participation. The 4.9-star Google rating across 65 reviews reflects the rare consistency of the production; almost everyone who walks in walks out impressed.
The room is built specifically for the format. The seating is steeply raked so the back rows can see the close-up table work; the lighting is theatrical and supports the production; and the back bar runs cocktails before and after the show in the lounge format that turns the evening into a complete two-hour experience rather than just a 75-minute show. The production rotates programs through the year and adds seasonal programming for Halloween (their biggest single window) and the December holiday weekends.
This is not a kids' magic show, although families with older children (12+) regularly attend. The work is professional magic at the level you'd see in a Vegas or Las Vegas-touring production, performed in a 200-seat room that means you're 30 feet from the trick whatever your seat. Tickets run $30-45 depending on seat and show; the front rows go first and are worth the upgrade. The full calendar is on the Theatre of Dreams site and the bigger seasonal shows sell out 4-6 weeks ahead.
For a date-night DougCo evening that doesn't default to dinner-and-a-movie, this is the contrarian pick. Pair with dinner at Castle Cafe or a drink at the Star Lounge across town first; the show ends late enough that the late-dinner option is usually closed by show end.
Know before you go
- •Professional magic-and-illusion show in a small theater
- •Date-night alternative to dinner-and-a-movie
- •Halloween and December seasonal shows (book 6 weeks ahead)
- •Group nights for birthdays or work celebrations (16+ books a section)
Friday and Saturday only. 7:30pm and 9:30pm slots. Box office opens 60 minutes before showtime. Calendar runs year-round with extra dates around Halloween and Christmas/New Year.
Book front-of-house rows (rows 1-4) if you can; the close-up work plays differently when you can see the cards. The back-bar lounge opens 45 minutes before showtime and is a real cocktail program; arrive early and order a drink before the house seats. The 9:30pm slot is the calmer of the two on most weekends.
Not a kids show; under-12 may lose interest in the longer mentalism segments. Photography during the show isn't allowed (stage policy). The street parking on Park Street is two-hour limit during the day but unlimited evenings; check the signs before assuming.
Free street parking on Park Street and the surrounding downtown grid in the evening. The public lot at Wilcox Street (two blocks south) is the backup if Park Street is full.
