The Douglas County Fair and Rodeo is the county's biggest summer tradition, and it takes over the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock in late July into early August.
The basics
The fair runs roughly July 24 through August 2, 2026, at 500 Fairgrounds Drive in Castle Rock. Some events are free to attend and others, including the rodeo and concerts, are ticketed, so check the schedule before you go.
What to expect
This is a true county fair with a real PRCA rodeo at its center. Expect rodeo nights under the lights, a carnival with rides and games, livestock and 4-H shows, live concerts, a parade, and the full slate of fair food. It is the kind of event that works for a couple of hours or a full evening, and it draws families from across the county.
Tips
The rodeo nights and headliner concerts are the events that sell out, so buy those tickets ahead. Evenings are the sweet spot for weather and atmosphere, but they are also the busiest, so arrive early for parking. Bring cash for the carnival and sunscreen for the daytime livestock barns.
