Castle Rock throws the county's most complete Fourth of July, and in 2026 it runs as a full evening at Festival Park in the heart of downtown, capped by a fireworks show big enough to see from most of town.
The evening at Festival Park
The celebration runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and it is free to walk in. Three bands carry the night, with the Denver Dolls opening at 5:30, the Castle Rock Band at 6:45, and Thunder Roads closing at 8. Around the music you will find food trucks, face painting, family activities, and the return of the Town's Pie Bake-Off, which is more competitive than it sounds.
The fireworks
The show goes up around 9:30 p.m., at dusk. It is not launched from Festival Park itself but from the Philip S. Miller Park area southeast of downtown, which is good news for crowds: the fireworks are visible across most of Castle Rock, so you do not have to be packed into the park to see them. If you want the full festival atmosphere, be downtown. If you want a quieter view, find an elevated street on the west side of town.
Parking and timing
Downtown parking is the only real challenge. Use the Perry Street parking garage and arrive 30 to 60 minutes before you want to settle in, especially if you are coming for the 8 p.m. set or staking out a fireworks spot. Bring lawn chairs and layers, because summer evenings in Castle Rock cool off fast after sunset.
Start the day with the Rock-It Run
If you want to earn your barbecue, the Rock-It Run goes off at 7 a.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, with a 5K, a half marathon, and a free kids 1K. It is a Castle Rock tradition in its own right and a good way to bookend the holiday.
