Wiggly Field Dog Park

The well-known fenced dog park in The Meadows, Castle Rock, with separate large- and small-dog sides and agility obstacles. Worth knowing: the Town does not run it, so bring your own water and expect a downhill walk in.
Why it's here
Wiggly Field is the dog park most Castle Rock residents mean when they say they are taking the dog to the dog park. It is a fenced off-leash park in The Meadows community with separate large-dog and small-dog areas, agility obstacles, shaded bench seating, and picnic tables, adjacent to Paintbrush Park. It had a full equipment refresh and a grand reopening in 2022, and it is the de facto community dog park for that whole side of town.
Here is the accuracy correction that matters, because it is widely listed wrong: this is not a Town of Castle Rock park. The Town states plainly that it does not maintain an off-leash dog park anywhere. Wiggly Field is a community amenity in The Meadows, with equipment tied to The Meadows Metropolitan District, maintained by the community rather than Castle Rock Parks and Recreation. That changes nothing about whether you can use it, but it does mean the Town is not the place to call about it, and listings that credit the Town are simply incorrect.
The on-the-ground reports conflict on two points, so plan for the less convenient version of each. Some listings describe shaded seating; others say there is very little shade and no water station, so bring your own water and do not count on shade in the heat. And there is a meaningful downhill walk from the parking to the park itself, which also means an uphill walk back with a tired dog, something first-timers consistently get surprised by.
With those caveats handled, it does the job well: separated by dog size, fenced, with agility features and a community that clearly cares about it. Go early on a summer day to beat both the heat and the crowd, bring water, and wear shoes you do not mind for the walk down and back up.
Know before you go
- •Separate large-dog and small-dog fenced areas
- •Agility obstacles and a community-maintained park
- •The default Castle Rock dog park for The Meadows side of town
- •A social weekend-morning dog scene
Go early on hot days to beat the heat and the crowd; shade is limited and unreliable. Weekend mornings are the busiest social window.
Bring your own water; do not count on a water station or shade. Expect a real downhill walk from parking to the park and the uphill return with a tired dog.
Not a Town of Castle Rock park; the Town runs no off-leash park, so do not call them about it. Shade and on-site water are unreliable per conflicting reports. The parking-to-park walk is steeper than people expect.
Parking off Meadows Blvd in The Meadows community, Castle Rock, adjacent to Paintbrush Park. Notable downhill walk from the lot to the fenced areas.
